Monkey, our cheeky little dog, came to us in 2000 as "Mi Mi". We are not sure who her parents were but we guess she has Shih Tzu and Terrier blood in her.
Her first owner did not want to treat her due to the extent of her injuries so we kept her originally planning to find her a new home. She had a horrific burn injury along her back which took weeks of treatment to heal and by that time we had fallen in love with her. The scar still runs from her neck to her tail.
Her main job is guarding the clinic by barking noisily at passers by in the street, and her second job is begging for pieces of lunch.
She is a funny creature and may bite strangers if they put their hand into her cage. She nearly died three years ago when she had a serious condition known as auto immune haemolytic anaemia - where her body developed a reaction against her own red blood cells and killed many of them. She took 9 months to recover with one serious relapse and a bout of pneumonia too.
