Some of clients recently informed us that in the latest batch of High Potency Fine 5 lbs bags, the "nuggets" were of different sizes and some appeared to have crumbled. We contacted Harrison's to ask if there had been any problems with the batch, they informed us that the client was up to their usual high standards and that the changes were natural diet variations. So there is no need for clients to worry. Please see Harrison’s explanation below.
We have changed the size of the High Potency Fine. It is slightly smaller than it was previously so this may be what they are asking about.
Many extruded foods are made from finely milled flours/cereals, which generally yield a consistent appearance and density. They may also be artificially enhanced with dyes or other additives to maintain consistency. Harrison's nuggets, on the other hand, are made from coarse ground, whole grains and are not subjected to artificial enhancement.
In other words, "nature" sometimes dictates slight changes in the appearance of our foods. Fluctuations in crop yield occur from season to season and year to year. Most often these fluctuations will be noticeable in color, density or the appearance of grain "specks" on the outside of the food.
Being certified organic, we are prohibited from incorporating artificial items to maintain a perfectly consistent appearance. That said, Harrison's requires all finished foods to meet certain specifications for quality and nutritional content, and every new batch of food is analyzed by an independent laboratory.
