Dr. Erika Vernia
Dr. Erika is the Hospital Director at Tai Wai Animal Hospital, where she leads the team with a focus on efficiency, exceptional preventive and medical care, and outstanding customer service. She moved to Hong Kong in 2020 to pursue her passion for veterinary leadership after gaining extensive experience in Europe. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the variety of Chinese teas through Gong Fu-style brewing, and is an avid fan of authentic Asian cuisine.
Dr. Peter Morgan
Dr. Peter has been a valued member of the Tai Wai Animal Hospital team since 2005, known for his expertise, knowledge, and compassionate care, with a loyal following of clients. He enjoys working with all species (but has a particular fondness for tortoises!) and earned his advanced qualification (CertAVP) in Zoological Medicine in 2020. Outside of work, he is the busy dadof Max and Amelia and enjoys unicycling—having represented Hong Kong in unicycle hockey and long-distance events.
Dr. Irvin Kwok
Dr. Irvin graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2020 and has a strong interest in internal medicine, with a passion for tackling complex clinical cases and continuously expanding his knowledge to better care for his patients. He has a special appreciation for wildlife, having spent time in South Africa treating animals like rhinos and even assisting in lion spays. Outside of work, Dr. Irvin enjoys beach volleyball, weight training, and exploring the vibrant energy of Hong Kong’s city life.
Dr. Reece Tam
Dr. Reece joined Tai Wai Animal Hospital after working in both the UK and a busy Hong Kong clinic, and is known for his passion for treating difficult medical cases and his commitment to high standard pet care. He has a special interest in ultrasonography and surgery and is happy to accept referrals for endoscopy procedures. Outside of work, Reece enjoys cycling, tennis, rock climbing, camping, and a good barbecue.
Dr. Tania Heuer
Dr. Tania Heuer joined the Tai Wai Animal Hospital team in 2023 as a senior veterinarian, bringing extensive international experience in medical and surgical care of dogs, cats and exotic pets. Promoted to Veterinary Director in October 2025, she leads the team with a focus on clinical excellence, compassionate holistic care, and empowering pet parents through clear communication and education. Outside of work, Tania enjoys scuba diving, hiking and playing field hockey.
Dr. Sergio Silvetti
Dr. Sergio joined Tai Wai Animal Hospital in 2023, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in exotic animal medicine and surgery, and is recognized as an Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine by the UK Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Deeply committed to delivering the highest standard of care, he is a trusted expert in treating reptiles, birds, and small mammals, and is known for his tailored approach to each unique patient. A respected voice in his field, Dr. Sergio has lectured internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Joshua is passionate about delivering exceptional, compassionate care to every patient and client. With a special interest in ultrasonography, Dr. Joshua can provide non-invasive insights—especially in critical situations—ensuring pets receive timely and precise treatment. He prides himself in providing empathetic, high-quality care that keeps pets healthy and happy.
When he’s not at the hospital, Dr. Joshua enjoys immersing himself in Japanese culture, exploring new cuisines, experimenting in the kitchen, and staying active on the squash court.
Dr. Brenida Lau
Dr. Brenida’s lifelong love for animals began in Singapore, where she grew up surrounded by a wide variety of pets. She’s passionate about emergency medicine, acupuncture, and exotic animal health, but especially loves working closely with pet parents to ensure their furry, feathered, and scaly companions receive the best possible care. Known for her soft spot for cats (especially Sphynxes!), she brings a gentle touch to every consultation. In her spare time, she and enjoys cooking, pottery, and keeping her Duolingo streak alive.
Our story
Tai Wai Animal Hospital was set up in 1997 by Dr Gail Cochrane and Dr Katriona (Dr Tiger) Bradley. Over the years, we have grown into a larger veterinary team that offer 24 hour animal care. Tai Wai Animal Hospital is a hospital fully equipped with all the necessary specialist care for exotic pets as well as cat and dog patients.
Tai Wai Small Animal and Exotic 24 Hour Hospital is the only Hospital in Hong Kong that is designed to provide full 24 hour emergency facilities for your exotic pets (as well as cats and dogs) including having a veterinarian in the Hospital 24 hours a day, as well as 24 hour nursing care.
